Light art in a Mediterranean setting

On the Côte d’Azur, near St. Tropéz, German lighting artists Detlef Hartung and Georg Trenz installed two location-related projections on a private estate. This recreation site is used by the family and their numerous friends as a meeting point. After sunset, the works called “Wish You” and “I believe in …” illuminate the exterior with its cork oak forest and the lawn place, that is also used as a heliport.

I believe in …” is designed as a labyrinth and declares the sentence “I believe in the idea of the future” in different contexts. The diameter of the projection is about 25 m, the projector is 8 to 30 m away at an height of 3.20 m.

The content: “Wish you” deliberately leaves out the goal of the desire, rather contains all kinds of wishes and is only readable from the perspective of the projector. From other perspectives the projected text dissolves into a cascading light pattern in the surrounding cork oak forest. The image is projected from a distance of ca. 35 to 60 m.
